$1000 Grant Terms and Conditions
1. Recipients must stay on the job to receive a grant of up to S$1,000 each to switch to an electric bicycle or a personal mobility aid, and a grant of up to S$600 each to switch to a bicycle.
2. All grants, $1000 or $600 must be repaid back with interest upon recipient's resignation or termination from the delivery job.

Basically these delivery riders don't own the electric bicycle or a personal mobility aid or the bicycle.
The Food Delivery companies have the ownership.
The reason why the grant is announced so fast has to do with who is footing the bill.
There is actually NO Gov provision for such grant at all.
The daft delivery riders are the ones footing the bill.
By taking the grant, the delivery riders literally owe the food delivery firm $1000 plus other miscellaneous fees.
The cost of the electric bicycle or a personal mobility aid or the bicycle is only a fraction of $1000
Order in bulk from China, the production cost per unit would only be around $200 to $300.
It would only cost these food delivery companies $350 per unit.
Thus the profit margin $$$ for these food delivery companies would be $650.
Don't believe? Go ahead and ask your MP.
Make sure you get MP to formally write a black and white letter stating that you the delivery riders get to own the electric bicycle or a personal mobility aid or the bicycle.
