Police arrest woman who allegedly drove against traffic flow in Chinatown, suspend her licence

SINGAPORE — The police said on Monday (Sept 9) they have arrested a 32-year-old woman and suspended her driver’s licence for “dangerous driving”, after she allegedly drove against the flow of traffic in Chinatown.

Videos of the woman’s actions had gone viral on Sunday. One video posted onto the Singapore Road Accident Facebook page shows the woman stepping out of the car — which had mounted the pavement — and using Hokkien vulgarities at a passersby. The post has since garnered 387,000 views.

A separate video shows a black Mercedes-Benz driving against the flow of traffic on the leftmost lane, as a crowd watches on the pavement.

The Singapore Police Force told TODAY that they were alerted to a case of dangerous driving on Friday, at 10.24pm, along Upper Cross Street towards South Bridge Road.

“A 32-year-old woman was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving and her driving licence has been suspended. Police investigations are ongoing,” the police said. No injuries were reported, they added.

Maybe she's pregnant. And because she was moody, she drove against the direction of traffic.
