SINGAPORE: A 79-year-old woman was found dead in a Toa Payoh flat early on Sunday morning (Sep 1) in a case the police has classified as murder.

The police received a call for help at about 3.40am at Block 191 Lorong 4 Toa Payoh on Sunday.

The elderly woman was found lying motionless at the Housing Board block and pronounced dead by paramedics at scene.

The suspect, an 82-year-old man, has been arrested and will be charged in court on Monday.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that both the victim and the suspect are known to each other," police said, without specifying their relationship.

The police have classified the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.

The only sad takeaway I got from the news was that the poor Ah Ma was still working in Macdonalds at grand old age of 86

At 82 & 72 years of age, what PAssion is there? Mostly likely due to old age & illness & escalating costs of healthcare & costs of living; death is the only way out. But HSK says Sillyporeans very happy with PAP, these two, must be over the moon on this. These PG...for PAP was their past, their present, & no future...one died.

Down the road another 10 yrs u will see more 80 plus working to pay their food and rent, until they drop dead. Don't feel sad, they chose to be poor.
