actually, i don't think that rings true. Last time I checked (10 years ago) Americans as a rule have great disposable income and purchasing power.

But that's the problem. they dispose of it. Americans spend and borrow like no tomorrow, then when they lose their jobs at 40 or 50, they're only a few paychecks away from bankruptcy. All this while sitting in mansions, multi-car households and with the boats and PWC and their annual vacations that clean out the banks. A good proportion of them spend money like it's going out of style.

We say can eat don't waste? They say can eat don't stop.

no savings because of right wing policies. left wing policies will almost always result in less savings. there are a few exceptions where right wing policies do bleed households though.

the no savings is because of household behaviour not right wing policies.
