If your faith (deen) is so easily shaken by some Internet celebrity, I suggest you renounce Islam and start believing in something else.

The fact is: apostasy is punishable by death in many parts of the Islamic world. When causing physical death is not possible, the next best option is social death, by excommunication.

During the glory years of islamic empire before the ransack of baghdad by mongol horde, no caliphs talked about going for a haj. From cordoba to tashkent, mecca was not even mentioned nor wanted by warring caliphs.
Their interest lie in exchanging of knowledge from china,greece, rome, constantinople, persian to india, translated into arabic, and utilised to benefit mankind.

It somehow became a religion with its rituals, which was never explained in their holy book.
