ASEAN is a grouping that makes no sense. Except for SINKapore, the other members are second or third world. So, intra-ASEAN trade is of little interest to the members.

SINKapore wants ASEAN because it will gain more clout. With 5 million population, no country is interested in SINKapore ...but ASEAN with population of 200 million combined is a whole different story.

The other countries in ASEAN buay song SINKapore. They all have the same views that SINKapore is totally self-serving and arrogant. The Indochina countries can't be bothered with SINKapore as long as SINKapore continues to provide some development assistance. Thailand has leverage over us because it provides training ground for our military. That's why SINKapore doesn't mess with the Thais.

That leaves Mudland and Indonesia. We see Indon as abang ...so cannot mess with them. Mudland, we think they should kowtow to us. But Mudland doesn't think so. Thus, the conflict.

Unless SINKapore does a makeover and start to be more humble. our lives will be miserable as the other neighbouring countries assert themselves.

It's an open secret that our Asean neighbours esp bigger abangs Malaysia and Indonesia see Singapore as a mercenary Chinese country and not treating them with proper respect. Now even Cambodia also wants to find fault with Singapore blaming us for all their social, environmental and economic ills.
