If you are paid by the public taxes....it is no longer a private matter.
Boss Leong make a better debator then inhouse grass rooter John Tan .
You seem to grossly ignorant of the facts.
Salaries of ministers are public knowledge because many people think when taxpayer funds are used then privacy concerns go out the window. However I tend to disagree. I believe everyone should be entitled to their privacy but that is just my view.
The issue is not their salaries which are already public. The issue is their total income and that should definitely remain confidential because it is none of anybody's business where individuals get their money as long as they declare it to the tax department.
Singapore needs political leaders with good values like love, care, compassion, not present PAP leaders who have greed.
Singapore misses the 1st generation PAP leaders who cared for Singaporeans, worked hard, who had empathy for the poor, who took care of the sick with affordable and timely healthcare and who housed Singaporeans in affordable public housing. These leaders were LKY, TCC, GKS, SR,EWB, OPB, etc
Singaporeans now detest the present PAP leaders who are greedy, who love and care for themselves, who make profit from the poor, aged and sick and who serve themselves. These detestable leaders are, LHL, TCH, Tharman, KBW, CCS, HSK,, GF, IR, JT, IS, Masagos, LW. etc
Looks like the next generation of SG leaders are equally greedy and self serving.
Singaporeans must vote for leaders who have good values and vote against those who are greedy like the pap leaders. Singaporeans care for the next generation and vote out the pap. A vote against the pap is a vote for Singapore's next generation

However, the fact that you are employed as a public servant and you are grossly and highly paid....the salary element will always remain an item of public interest.
You are wrong again. A married man can have an affair with a married lady and both claim it is their private affairs. But that claim does not mean that a private detective cant investigate and check on their details. The same thing with a politician's salary. He can claim it is private but that does not mean I cant go and check out how much he gets for his monthly pay, how much bonuses he gets, how much he got as a director in a GLC. He may try to hide, but he cant stop me from investigating.Just because the public are "interested" does not mean that they have the right to the information.
There are lots of things I'm interested in too but that does not mean I can start snooping around the private information of others.
They do hv a right to know a politician's salary although the politician will disagree.Just because the public are "interested" does not mean that they have the right to the information.
