Singapore Needs Leaders With Good Values, Not Greed

Singapore has one of the lowest tax rates in the world.
You conveniently forgot to add that the car taxes are highest in the world, petrol tax is highest, water price is highest, electricity price is one of the highest, we pay toilet hole levies, we pay ERP, no minimum wage, etc

You don't need a car in Singapore so you can easily avoid all the taxes associated with a car.

Water and electricity prices are inflated to ensure that these utilities are used prudently and are not squandered.

Not having a minimum wage is a good thing. In NZ the minimum wage jacks up the price of everything and achieves absolutely nothing.

That's just an urban myth! With the exception of 1 or 2 such as Tharman, the rest are jiak liao bees and overrated. Ownself praise ownself!
You are rite except on Tharman. Tharman is overrated, at best average. He seem to talk well but what has he done for SG? . So if Tharman is considered the best, the rest of pap is a washout

It doesnt matter whether i need a car or not. It is still highly taxed

They are entitled to their privacy. Just because they are ministers does not mean their lives should be an open book.
They are entitled to their privacy if it is their private matters. But money they take from Singaporeans cant be private and must be publicly accountable

Salary is a private matter regardless of source.

What I meant is in the context of marketability. Tharman can at least sell his snake oil at the international stage as he is perceived to have intellect, stature and poise as Finance Minster..

And so dont say that SG taxes are lowest.

Every country has a range of indirect taxes that are used to mold behavior for the greater good. EG cigarette taxes, alcohol tax, road tax, ERP etc. These taxes are designed to make society a better place for all and to reflect the social cost of certain activities.

When a country is classified as a low tax regime it means that direct taxes are low. Direct taxes refers to Income tax and Corp tax.

Dont be fooled by the pap like so many foreigners

SG ministers are mercenaries not political leaders.Political leaders incurred many personal sacrifices for national interests.
Whereas all SG ministers are multi-millionaires paid by taxpayers' money,so where is the sacrifice ?

Because throughout the world the public are a bunch of nosey busy bodies who cannot mind their own business.
The corrupt wants to believe that their incomes and salaries are private matters because they want to hide their corrupt gains and also avoid accountability.

But Heavens have eyes and expose incomes and salaries so that no one can hide their ill gotten gains.

Malaysian leaders are on the right track.

If the leaders feel that the media have exposed their private matters, they shd take action. so salaries, especially of politicians, are not private matters

Politics is a job too so the salaries should be private and confidential.

Singapore can never impose a minimum wage policy as long as you have these foreign workers being paid pittance for the work they do.

However, having said that, cabinet ministers can always have their maximum wage.
