Malaysian political leaders have led the way and declared their incomes. This id good for transparency and to prevent corruption

PAP claims that they are the most incorrupt politicians. Will PAP leaders now put their mouth where their money is and also declare their income?

The ball is in LHL's court

I would take the mudlander's income declaration with a pinch of salt. They are not exactly angels.

As for the pap, to want them to declare is to put them between a rock and a hard place. If they bluff and get caught out, they will be in trouble. If it's a truthful declaration, they will get in trouble with the people. They can't win either way.

An Income declaration is an important first step in instilling transparency. To say that we take the Malaysian declarations with a pinch of salt is to miss the importance of such a declaration. I give the Malaysian credit for having the courage to declare their income.

What does it speak of LHL and the pap if they do not dare declare their income? Singaporeans are too timid to let the pap get off too easily

I know what you mean. When in public service as leaders, the very act of declaring one's total income is an exercise in good faith and sets the right tone from the get go. But where m&d leaders are concerned, I wouldn't take that as the gospel truth.

Pap leaders, being natural aristocrats, do not see the need to do so. To which I say :FU:.

If pap doesnt want to declare their income, then it is even more important that we compel them to do it. We dont want any politician to do fishy things and not willing to declare their income

Fact : sinkies are not able to compel them to do what they do not want to. The only chance is at the ballot box, which many have squandered through folly.

Well said. I have added to your points :D

Well said. But at least mudland is one step up even against ozland whereby politicians hide their wealth by by transfer to their spouses. N their spouses do not fall under wealth or conflict of interest declarations. Also singkieland have no such public assets declaration for politicians n top civil serpents.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has topped a list of income declarations released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday (Nov 1).
Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is at third place, behind Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The list, which has been made public by MACC on an online portal, reports the declared incomes of more than 80 members of parliament and some of their family members.
According to the website, the portal aims to prove the "transparency" of the ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition.
This is the first time that such a list has been made public, as part of efforts to curb government corruption that allegedly existed in the previous administration, the Malay Mail reported.

The portal showed that the finance minister's income as of Oct 10 was RM86,464.92 (US$20,700), putting him at the top of the list.
Mr Lim had declared his and his wife's income. According to The Star, the figure listed is of his alone.
Dr Mahathir's declared income was listed as RM75,861.57 as of Oct 19. He had also declared his wife's assets.
The MACC, however, did not specify the periods for which the incomes were declared.
Information on the website appears to be updated periodically. As of 8pm on Thursday, it showed that 82 MPs have declared their assets while 43 have not done so.

According to the pie chart on the MACC portal, 65.6 per cent of MPs had declared their assets, while 34.4 per cent had not.
