As expected, Gen Kee Chiu emerges to show that he should be the PM. The border disputes between sinkapore and mudland was engineered by Kee Chiu and his supporters to stir up troubles for Heng Ah (now Boh Heng) to tackle and give Kee Chiu the opportunity to juxtaposed his 'strong' leadership with the 'calm and composed' posture adopted of Heng Ah.
Instead of the foreign minister and PM taking the lead on a potentially explosive situation, the PM is MIA. The reason is obvious - his choice of the next PM is Kee Chiu. The PAP decision makers didn't want Kee Chiu but Pinky will not have that. After all who is the party to tell the son of the Great Leader what to do. So, the PM's MIA on this issue is for Kee Chiu to one up Heng Ah.
Kee Chiu is adopting an aggressive position; seeking to pick a fight with Mudland. His intransigence - Suggesting that Sinkapore vessels leave the area for talks to happen. That's not right. That cannot be right ....You make a claim. You send forces in. You ask Sinkapore to leave, as condition to start talks? How can this be? ...Revert to the pre-Oct 25 status quo ante. Have the Malaysian ships leave the area peacefully, immediately."
The substance of what Kee Chiu wants is no different from that made by Mudland. Mudland asks for "cease and desist" sending assets and removing all ship from the disputed area. That is a reasonable position. Not for Kee Chiu. He wants to show that he is tough - so Mudland removes its ships but sinkapore can keeps its ship there. You expect the Mudlanders to accept that position? That position taken by Kee Chiu is to keep the tension ongoing, to give him the spotlight and show that he is better than Heng Ah.
