Channel NewsAsia - Friday, July 31

SINGAPORE: Lee Hock Yen, an ex—senior manager with SPRING Singapore, has been charged with attempting to obtain gratification in the form of a referral fee.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau’s investigations showed that the 54—year—old Lee suggested to the sales manager of Hitachi to mark up professional fees the firm was charging Rayco Technologies by S$10,000 to S$20,000.

This was so that the amount could be given to the accused as his referral fee in May 2006.

However, Hitachi Asia rejected the demand.

According to pappy logic of giving high pay to make sure people cannot be corrupt, the Senior Manager must be underpaid to the tune of bangla salary.

The Auditor-General (AG), Lim Soo Ping, has chided Spring Singapore for being sloppy in their management of public funds.

Spring Singapore renovated its chairman's office in Bukit Merah in early 2007. But new chairman Philip Yeo continued to work at Biopolis in Buona Vista, at his old office in A*Star where he had been the chairman.

Spring also paid rent for the Biopolis office. When the place had to be vacated, it leased space at nearby Fusionopolis for the chairman and other users.

About $2 million was unnecessarily spent on renting and renovating these offices, the Auditor-General noted.

So He is just try to recover some $$$.

He's only making $5 an hour, with CPF deductions which makes $4. See how sad the old fat fuck's life is?
