Recent visit home and had a memorable morning coffee with a group of uniformed middle age ladies from the neighbourhood RC. They had just finished their morning exercise at the hard court and were crowding the kopitiam. The conversation drifted to the disasters in Japan. The typhoon, earthquake and floods ... poor Japs.
However, the consensus around me was that as long as the pap is in charge, such misfortunes will never happen to our beloved Singapore. Indeed, my non-commital silence was challenged to recall any such mishaps since lky upgraded single-handedly our swampy fishing village 53 years ago.
