The water agreement, which expires in 2061, entitles Singapore to draw up to 250 million gallons a day (mgd) of raw water from the Johor River daily. In return, Johor is entitled to a daily supply of treated water of up to 2 per cent or 5 mgd of the water supplied to Singapore.

Singapore pays 3 sen per thousand gallons of raw water, and sells treated water back to Johor at 50 sen per thousand gallons.

The 1961 and 1962 water agreements provided for a price review after 25 years – in 1986 and 1987 respectively. Malaysia chose not to review the price then, said MFA in an article on its website on the issue. [ Does the price review have to be done in that year or it could be done later? Why MFA doesn't show sinkees that clause on price review?]

Just drag this whole thing out. It expires in 2061, by then Dr Mad would have been long dead!

I say send the SAF in. Strike now when we have the best military in the region. And we have so many capable generals. One gets killed, there are many to step in.

This Dr Mad really chao kuan. Sign a contract with him is like signing fuck you on a napkin.

it says price review after 25 years. That means anytime after 25 years can review the price. Not just in 1986/87.

The water deal is ridiculously unrealistic. In the 1960s, a private property could be be purchased for about $10K. HDB flats even lesser for about half that price. A three -room flat costs about $5K. Cars could be bought at a fraction of the price of a COE certificate, a cup of coffee or coke could be bought for about 5 cents, etc.

This chap's chart of the property index put prices into perspective.

All Mahatir is asking for is fairness and realism, the type of fair and realistic principles that the effeminate PM of Singapore and his minions strongly believe in, uphold and defend when it comes to their multi-million dollar salaries.

" He [Lee Hsien Loong] added that the country also has a professional public service that is paid "fair and realistic wages"..." Effeminate PM, 147th Prostitute Press, 6 June 2017.

let's hear madhatter out, both sides can revise their rates of raw and treated water to and for - and price it at commercial rates for the additional treated water that jiuhu kias need, over and above what has been agreed

War may be the only option, after all else fails! Don't forget that the country is run by paper generals headed by CAQ himself a President and SAF scholar soldier! Bwahaha.

Let's look a t the figures in perspective. Singapore provides about 22.7 million of treated water to Johor per day or about 8.2 billion litres per year. In return, Singapore takes as much as 250 million of untreated water per day or 91.2 billion litres a year at a miserly price of 3 Malaysian cents or 1 miserable Singapore cent per 1000 gallons. At a conversion rate of 1000 imperial gallons to 4,546 litres, this means that Singapore is paying Malaysia no more than $200 million a year for 54,992,312 litres or 20,072,793,907 gallons a year.

As every businessman knows, his "cost" can be as high or as low as he wants to. So, Singapore "cost" of treating water is suspect, no different from its "cost" in pricing land and the construction of HDB flats which then allows it to proclaim loudly to gullible Singaporeans that the pigeonholes they buy are heavily "subsidised".

To quote Ms Singapore and his minion, we need to be "fair and realistic". Paying just 1 miserable Singapore cent for 1000 gallons which is enough to fill up 4,546 SAF issued water bottles, can hardly be deemed as "fair or realistic".
