When you start with millions dollars salary and you are the most expensive government minister in the world , you still want more pay increment?
What difference does that make you from those poorly paid ministers who ask for a cut from every government deal ?
One is obtaining obscene amount of money through legal methods and the other is obtaining obscene amount of money through less legal methods.

Our ministers are paid about $3 million a year, including bonuses. A typical ASEAN minister gets easily $10 million from their own in one single government deal. In the long run, it is cheaper to legally pay them millions than for them to embezzle billions because they are poorly paid.
