KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has gone to the dogs – gastronomically speaking. In a Facebook post on April 1, the Malaysia Animal Association (MAA) related the disturbing news that a Vietnamese couple was recently discovered selling dog meat to their countrymen in Johor Baru. The “barking mad” vendors were confronted by an upset animal lover, who reportedly told them: "You want to come to Malaysia, then you should respect the culture here.” It was later discovered that the couple even has a Facebook page in which they advertise their "fresh and raw (dog) meat" for RM18 per kilogram. One of their posts features the photo of a cooked dog that had been cut open, with one of the couple’s hands reaching into its insides.
