THE terrorist siege at Rasa Sentosa Resort was over in minutes.

But for the elite forces that stormed the seaside hotel, it took years of planning, training and coordination to build up the capability to neutralise the terrorists in one swift strike.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who witnessed the anti-terrorism exercise, said Singaporeans can be assured that the Home Team and Singapore Armed Forces will keep them safe.

'So when you see something happen today - the helicopters, the commandos, police ... It's not just that they are alert and ready to go, but we spent a long time doing this.

'And I think that's what our safety and security and peace of mind, and (our) stability and prosperity ultimately depends on. And we are very grateful to the home team and the SAF for keeping us safe.'

He made these points at the end of the three-day Exercise Northstar VII, which involved more than 2,000 servicemen and officials from 15 agencies.

The exercise was aimed at raising public awareness and boosting public confidence, as well as testing contingency plans and the operational readiness of the emergency response forces here.

Yawn....Sleepy la! :o

Alamak 10 mins wayang show, then talk about years of planning, training & coordination.

It is normal. Didn't you heard .....for every minute of fame on stage, there was 10 years of training backstage behind them. Therefore, it is in line with all wayang.

I am sure there are white markers on the ground for the 'terrorists' to be positioned and where/when they should die/surrender on cue. I suppose those real terrorists are the same. Wonder why other countries Home Team can't win terrorists ?

BTW, if they are so well trained, then the Home Team should be available on-call to be outsourced to counter terrorists when it happen in other countries whose Home Team is not so competent.....another $ making idea for the MIW ;).
