Jail, fine for lottery offence

A WOMAN was jailed for two weeks and fined $20,000 on Wednesday for helping to operate a 10,000-character lottery.
Housewife Ang Seow Peng, 35, pleaded guilty to the offence at a flat in Choa Chu Kang Street 62 last Saturday.
She was arrested by police who raided the flat and seized a number of items relating to the illegal 4D lottery.
The lottery was in progress at the time. Exhibits contained records of stakes amounting to $2,616.
The mother of three could have been fined between $20,000 and $200,000 and jailed for up to five years.
