SINGAPORE - Five men who were involved in a fight in Syed Alwi Road on Tuesday (March 6) that landed one of them in hospital have been arrested for affray, the police said on Friday.

The police said they were alerted to the fight, and found after preliminary investigations that a few pedestrians had been walking along the road when a car driver sounded the horn at them.

"A dispute broke out between the driver, his two passengers and the pedestrians, during which blows were exchanged," said the police in a statement. Officers from the Central Police Division identified the suspects and arrested them on Friday.

Affray is committed when two or more people disturb the public peace by fighting in a public place. If found guilty of the offence of affray, the men could be jailed for up to a year, and/or fined up to $5,000
