Falling rocket booster explodes near a town in China

Following a launch on Friday local time, a Chinese rocket booster fell near a small town in southwest China, where it exploded and caught fire, GBTimes reports. It was one of four strap-on boosters used on China’s Long March 3B rocket, which had lofted two satellites into orbit before the crash. People living in the town Xiangdu, located in China’s Guangxi region, caught video of the booster as it fell perilously close to buildings and then erupted in flames.

The Long March 3B takes off from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center, located in the country’s Sichuan province. Unlike most major launchpads in the US, the center is located many hundreds of miles from China’s coastline, so rockets launched from the site have to fly over land to get to orbit. That means when the rocket sheds parts during a flight, such as the strap-on boosters that give the vehicle extra thrust, these parts will fall in a designated drop zone over land. And many towns might be located in that zone.

Of course there were failures during the V2 develop program you twit. The Germans were pioneers of rocket technology during WW2. Failures were part and parcel of their success.

It just went high altitude.but still within the atmosphere.it did not go into orbit. If it went into space it would have landed in the USA

Nobody ever claimed that V2s were supposed to orbit the earth. They were rocket powered missiles.

The V2, did, in fact, cross the Karman line and therefore "officially" left the earth's atmosphere.

It is by design and deliberately designated these zones are for launch debris fall zones. People had been offered money to move out to live elsewhere, but not forcing them out. 75% (size and weight) of EVERY ROCKET launched will be consumed and discarded in these zones, including boosters, 1st stage, 2nd stage, near empty tanks, aerodynamic fairing or hoods no longer needed after leaving atmosphere into space.

ALL countries any rockets are done this way. Diff is some launching locations discard wastes into Ocean like the Hainan 文昌 launching center.

It is not economical and practical to recycle rockets like the silly Space X. Idiot Ang Moh ideas. Spending too much extra fuel to recycle some metals! These are not long life span worthwhile, recycled rocket are unreliable, and will fail the next launch and cost huge losses.
