Seems more like a defensive through offensive tactic. Wp is going to raise questions about Keppel corruption probe in the same parliament sitting and that will put the govt on the defensive. In order to divert attention, pap needs to create some issues that will occupy the headlines in the media. And Leon has been targeted as the attacking point and asked to apologize in the very same session. I am pretty sure all media outlets have receive telephone calls to give Leon issue more prominence and coverage.

As for how far PAP will go on this issue, likely Leon will be summon before the parliamentary disciplinary committee ( made up of pap MP and cronies) and charge him for abusing his parliamentary privilege. What awaits him is a hefty fine . If this ever happens , Leon next move maybe to mount a court challenge to contest the legitimacy of the committee.
