Australia beaten Honduras 3-1 in 2nd leg in Sydney to qualify on 3-1 aggregate after 1st leg drew 0-0.

For the first time Asia has 5 representatives into the World Cup. Iran, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

Well done to Asia footballing countries :D

There is still one more possible Asian country to be in the world cup - New Zealand takes on Peru tomorrow. :D

Does it mean that the Asian countries are better than Italy at football?

The qualification is zonal.
Else only mainly Europeans and South American countries would qualify. Asian teams are playing bridesmaids role as always.
Asian teams can win a game two or if can make it thru next round is an achievement in itself.
Even if NZ qualify. They and aussies can hardly be called Asian. They are also in the Oceania zone and not zoned as Asia.
Interesting fact....NZ drew all their games the last time round and were kicked out but they were the only unbeaten team.....even winner Spain lost a game.

In 2002 as co-host, South Korea reached the semifinals and finished 4th place and in 2010 they reached the Round of 16.

Japan reached the Round of 16 in 2002 and 2010 too :p

Saudi Arabia reached Round of 16 in 1994
