Signed MOU with the Chairman of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Mr He Lifeng to enhance bilateral cooperation on the Belt and Road.

According to the PRC Ministry of Commerce, Singapore already accounts for about one-third of China's outbound investments to the Belt and Road countries. A large part of that is channeled to other countries because of our role as a regional financial centre. We look forward to partnering with China and other B&R countries to deepen financial collaboration and accelerate infrastructure development in the region.

at least 69% of all risks are carried by over 69% of tiong conglomerates. risks are high as most of the needy and desperate cuntries on obor are worse than 3rd world in terms of political stability, (lack of) domestic economy, and financial security. many of the projects will be delayed, half done, and or abandoned. it's a massive white elephant ambition on an epic scale. obor should be renamed "white elephant."

In truth nothing is going to change much as we are acknowledged for our infrastructure, finance and stability so we will get much of the financing and co-ordinations for the Contractors of the Countries involved.

How much weight can train carries only 10~20% of what ships and containers could it is all just for show of collaborations purpose to show Uncle Sam we're united in Asia & with Russia & Korea to create the perception of tensions of WW3.

I am seeing that there is not a lot of people who understands why 1/3 of China B & R investments are flowing into Zikapore. After all, the Silk road does not run thru here. So, PAPsmearer will explain in as simple a term as possible.

China wants to make investments in their Belt and Road network to securely move goods rapidly overland to markets in Europe. Got it?
For this to happen, they need to build billions of $ worth of infrastructure in countries that the B & R goes thru. eg Pakistan
The Chinese are willing to put up the money for certain concessions from these countries when the B & R is build. These infrastructure projects include building roads, ports, highways, bridges and in some places new towns.
These projects will take the form of JV between Chinese companies (usually large construction or materials companies), and the local Pakistani Govt or state enterprises.
Money needs to be put into these JVs, and the money comes from the Chinese.
The Money is not going to be put into a Chinese bank, because it will be denominated in RMB (which is useless when you have to buy raw materials on the world market denominated in USD or Euro). Also, the JV partners are not going to go all the way to China to get their money there. Conversely, the Chinese are not going to put their investment money into a Paki bank in Paki Rupees, because they cannot over see and control it and it still needs to be converted to hard currency to make purchases of materials.
Enter Zikapore, the Switzerland of Asia, and money laundering centre of Asia. The Paki partner and the Chinese partner will come to zikapore and open a joint account for their JV and in some cases register the JV in singapore. the money is then send from China into the singapore account of the JV. This way, a neutral party holds the money for the JV. Its also possible for them to open a USD account in their singapore bank, something they cannot do in Pakistan and China. Also, western standard GAAP practice can be used for their JV partnership in Singapore. The best part of all this is that the money is far away from Pakistan and far away from China. Any bribes, skimming, and graft can take place out of the eyesight of each country's regulators. that is why all that money is flowing into zikapore for the B & R network. What is zikapore's benefit?Not much. Some bank fees, some staff is zikaporeans, not much. So, that in a nutshell is your answer.
