With Dubai's population already topping 1.6 million, the number of people taking up residence there is continuing to skyrocket, with more than four million expected by 2020.
More than 25,000 foreigners relocate to Dubai, one of the seven emirates which make up the United Arab Emirates, each month.
Dubai has developed at lightening fast pace over the last 20 years, and it is this growth, plus the tax advantages, climate and quality of life, that have attracted so many people.
Dubai has a very strong relationship with the likes of Great Britain, with whom the country had a protection agreement in the late 1880s.
This agreement was later withdrawn and the country set about building its own culture, economy and way of life.
Dubai is most definitely one of the major successes of the Middle East region, encompassing both traditional local customs and laws, while embracing a European way of life.
Oliver Hickey, European Finance Director of Profile Europe (UK) Ltd says, "To get some sort of visual perspective on the numbers involved and the overriding popularity of Dubai, it is perhaps easier to imagine the crowd of a premiership football match.
"Only then can one comprehend the size of this monthly migration. To take this a stage further, one can break the figures down; 800 new residents a day which equates to 33 an hour.
"One has to understand, that these figures do not take into account tourists; annual tourist figures already surpass five million and this has made Dubai's hotels amongst the most profitable in the world with occupancy upwards of 85%.
"Such an influx of foreign nationals is having the desired affect on Dubai and almost every industry is benefiting as more and more migrants stoke this thriving economy.
"With Dubai ideally positioned between East and West and vying to become the number one transit hub for world travelers, effectively knocking Singapore of its perch, its long term investment possibilities are superb with few other world destinations coming even close to Dubai," Mr Hickey added.

Dubai sucks....

Expensive apartments cos the Sheiks buys everything and controls the rental price at a very high level

Roads are always jammed up. Now they even have an ERP like system on the highway.

I think the city lacks its own identity by trying to be the best in everything that it does, build etc.

What pulls people there is only $$$. At some point in time the $$$ will dry up and off goes the mercenaries who are disguised as immigrants.

However unlike Spore, Emiratis are rewarded very very handsomely for getting married. I heard 1 house, land, $$$$ etc and also minimum wage. But those lazy good for nothing Emiratis really don't deserve it. They suck!
