Regardless weather the scheduled 1st flight of C919 will be postponed due to sand storm or not, it is a record shattering commercial airliner, which already Received 570+ orders from 21 customers, Chinese and International buyers, from their initial introduction at air show years ago, WAY BEFORE 1st TEST FLIGHT. Proven that not just the Chinese has highest confidence and interest. Record sales before even test flight! Will be #1 Hot Cake lucrative popular airliner and will eat Boeing & Airbus market shares big time, especially for newer models in the Chinese pipelines, which will pour out very rapidly.

Not so easy to eat Boeing and Airbus's lunch. Which fantasy is this? A brand new start up maker like COMAC still has years to certify the plane for FAA and EASA flight rules. Good luck to them. The only reason that they have even 570 orders is because the central govt is asking local airlines to buy the plane and backing it up with liberal financing terms. These airlines are continuing to order Boeing and Airbus because they don't know when the plane will actually roll of the production line and be certified.

Chinese have their own market and power to invalidate all the Western Certifications, if that is what they intended to use for trade wars. Chinese can void Western Certification, many huge strategic economic partners such as Russia will honor Chinese standard over Western Standard. Now Chinese Railway standard already won over the Japanese and Western standard, proven to be higher standard and better standard, more widely accepted by markets. In many industrial domains, not just aerospace, even Space, Maritime, Deep Sea Explorations, Civil Engineering Projects, like tunnel and bridges, Chinese sets the world records, and maintain very high up above the rest. They can do the highest engineering wonders, and especially the West are unable to catch up. Chinese made their own CPUs and World's Top Powerful Supercomputers, Quantum Computers, Quantum Communications Satellites, Hypersonic Vehicles, so many niche cutting edge technologies, that even Ang Moh Copycats are unable to catch up!

Beijing is developing a new generation of trains capable of reaching 400 kilometers per hour, China Daily reported. The high-speed trains will be part of the so-called Belt and Road Initiative to boost economic ties with other countries.

"We will apply new materials in the research and production of the future high-speed trains, such as carbon fiber and aluminum alloy, which will help to reduce weight and enhance energy efficiency,” said Qiao Feng, a senior engineer at the CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, a subsidiary of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation.

He added the new trains would be able to reduce energy consumption per passenger by ten percent. They are expected to promote regional connectivity and create new businesses for China and overseas economies.

The high-speed railway will help many densely populated countries change their commuter transportation, said rail transportation researcher at the National Development and Reform Commission, Feng Hao.

"Because many markets along the Belt and Road Initiative, especially in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, are planning to build high-speed rail lines or to upgrade their existing systems, they are eager to gain technological support from China to assist in daily operations, maintenance and staff training," he said.

China has the world’s largest high-speed rail network with more than 20,000 kilometers and expects to more than double that to 45,000 km by 2030.

According to the Chinese National Railway Administration, the country has passenger train services running at operational speeds of 200 – 250 km/h and has the technology to produce trains with a top speed of 350 km/h.

It is actively developing high-speed train technology and last year set a new speed record with a train reaching 840 km/h on a test run. Two trains, known as Golden Phoenix and Dolphin Blue zipped past each other with only 1.6 meters of space between them.

Beijing recently unveiled plans to build the world’s deepest and largest high-speed railway station as part of its preparations for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics.

It is also developing a new generation of trains for Russia's Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway. China plans to provide a $6 billion loan for the route which in future may become a part of a $100 billion high-speed rail line connecting the two countries.

Don't come here and talk this drivel lah. Invalidate what western certification? The Chinese are planning to sell this COMAC C919 to the Europeans and North Americans using price as their big advantage. They need to have the western certifications. As well, the engines and avionics used in this plane are all from the West and the plane is already certified for it. You want to invalidate them, fine. Use domestic engines and avionics then. It will set them back another 5-10 years.

1st thing I think for the Chinese is to be able to use and enjoy their own technologies, instead of buying from the West, then they can sell to their friends allies and partners to BREAK WESTERN MONOPOLIES of this Lucrative business. I also think the West are Bankrupted in deep debts and in hyper-trade-protectionism mode. Won't need to consider them as potential market. Forget about them and let them rot die ASAP. Chinese expect to have avalanche of Jet & Turbo fan engines products in 2017 & 2018, because they are on track with many projects began since beginning of the Y2K region. Now their combat jet engine already have released the breakthroughs that have 2000Hrs between turbine overhauls, twice longer than their Russian allies. Within 2018 surely will exceed the West in Trust/Weight Ratio, Max Trust & life span. Chinese missile & space rocket engines are already very successful. Jet turbine is not as difficult.

SHANGHAI: The first large made-in-China passenger plane took off on its maiden test flight Friday (May 5), marking a key milestone on the country's ambitious journey to compete with the world's leading aircraft makers.

The narrow-body C919 jet - white with green and blue stripes - disappeared into the clouds after taking off from Pudong international airport in the commercial hub Shanghai as a crowd of thousands cheered. It successfully landed some eighty minutes later.

Built by state-owned aerospace manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the plane represents nearly a decade of effort in a government-mandated drive to reduce dependence on European consortium Airbus and US aerospace giant Boeing.

The flight is the latest sign of China's growing ambition and technical skill, coming one week after the country launched its first domestically made aircraft carrier and docked a cargo spacecraft with an orbiting space lab.

Before takeoff, CCTV state television said the plane would be tested at an altitude of 3,000 metres (9,800 feet), some 7,000 metres lower than a regular trip, and at a speed of around 300 kilometres (186 miles) per hour.

The plane took off at 2:00 pm (0600 GMT) and was expected to fly for an hour and a half as ministers, COMAC staff, company partners and others looked on.

China has dreamt of building its own civil aircraft since the 1970s, when it began work on the narrow-body Y-10, which was eventually deemed unviable and never entered service.

US$1 TRILLION MARKET

President Xi Jinping himself has endorsed the new project, visiting COMAC even before he took office in 2013. The first flight was supposed to take place last year, but it was delayed until now.

His call to arms is emblazoned on the wall of the jet's production facility: "Accelerate the construction of the world's top aviation company and continue to make new contributions to develop a strong aviation industry."

China is a massive battleground for Boeing and Airbus, with the country's travel market expected to surpass the United States by 2024, according to the International Air Transport Association.

Airbus and Boeing estimate that Chinese airlines will need between 6,000-6,800 aircraft at a total price of around US$1 trillion.

The twin-engine C919, whose name sounds like the Chinese word for "everlasting", can seat 168 passengers in an arrangement similar to other narrow-body jets: three white-velvet upholstered seats line each side of its central aisle.

It has a range of 5,555km and has received 570 orders, almost all from domestic airlines.

COMAC made two planes for the test flight and it expects to produce four more by 2019, said Bao Pengli, deputy head of Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co - COMAC's production arm.

The Shanghai-based firm plans to become one of the world's leading civil aircraft manufacturer in the next three years, aiming to have the C919 and ARJ21, a smaller 90-seat regional jet made by COMAC, both certified to fly internationally.

But it will be sometime before the C919 is ready to compete with the top-selling products of the world's aviation giants, said Bao.

"The biggest challenge is that the whole manufacturing experience still needs improvement because this is the first time China is making a primary route plane," Bao told reporters before the flight.

EARNING TRUST

The C919 will need to pass more tests to obtain Chinese airworthiness certification. The Shanghai-based company is also aiming to have the plane certified by US and European regulators.

COMAC's smaller, 90-seat ARJ21 plane, which entered service in 2016, several years late, is currently restricted to flying domestic routes as it still lacks the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification that would allow it to fly US skies.

Another challenge for the C919 is earning consumers' trust, said Shukor Yusof, an analyst with Malaysia-based aviation consultancy Endau Analytics.

"It will take some time for customers around the world to be comfortable buying Chinese airplanes," he said, adding, "it's not going to happen in the next ten years."

"It's going to be incredibly tough not because it's not a good product. But because you need to get comfort and credibility to the product among potential clients, potential customers."

What you do not know is not just aircrafts like Boeing & Airbus are using lots of Chinese Technologies and Production capabilities & Quality, in many cars, ships, trains, industrial machines, SMART Phones of Ang Moh Brands, they are using Chinese parts and contract productions as well. Boeing in particular out sourced some flight part for 737 & 787 to PRC.

Aircraft is relatively LOW TECHNOLOGY to PRC, considering that they already beat Ang Moh in many areas in SPACE ROCKET SATELLITE domains. You think too highly for Aircraft technologies because to a country like SG52 it is too high-end, but to PRC it is nothing already.

It is good that a sandstorm was present during this maiden flight. I proves to the world that, not only is the C919 perfectly designed, it also performs superbly in a sandstorm. What credentials. Go China Go !!!

The Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) today certified the C919 for use in China. Full production for use in China will proceed. Application for certification by EASA and FAA will follow.
