SINGAPORE: All trains on the North-East Line skipping are Hougang MRT station due to a "security incident", SBS Transit announced on Sunday (Apr 2).

The transport operator sent out a tweet about the incident at 2.55pm. No other details were provided.

SINGAPORE - All trains on the North-East Line will skip the Hougang Station due to a security incident, SBS Transit said on Sunday (April 2) afternoon.

"All trains on the NEL will skip NE14 Hougang Station due to a security incident," SBS Transit tweeted at about 3pm.

The Straits Times understands that an unattended luggage was found at the station.


There will be a free bus from Serangoon station to Buangkok station, SBS Transit said.

On inspection, the bag was not found to contain anything dangerous, the police said.

The station was given the all-clear and reopened to commuters around 4pm.

Shortly after the station was reopened, police were seen escorting away a man in a singlet. He is believed to be the bag's owner, and is assisting the police in their investigation of the incident.

According to SBS Transit, which operates the North-East line, an unattended luggage bag was discovered on the boarding platform of the Hougang station at about 2.40pm.

Shortly after, commuters were alerted to a "security incident" and told that all NEL trains would not stop at Hougang station.
