If ISIS can get an aircraft carrier it will be a great symbol of power,not only they can ward off those pesky Americans that keep bombing and airstriking their hideouts and strongholds.they also got air support for ground forces.and a floating base of command

their capital raqqa and even mosul are land locked, the fact they hv been squeezed from all sides now is obvious. no amount of air power could save them, not even drone armed with bombs.

the only advantage they have is tactics, 兵不厌诈。 what her enemies have is time and staying power, picking out pieces after pieces in mosul, providing emotional torture for those in raqqa.

isis bases in libya has been smashed and they seems to b losing foothold in yemen and afghanistan. so overall, it is likely most of the ex combatants would jump ship and offer allegiance to other radical groups like al nursa or even back to qaeda. isis is finished for sure.

Anyone with the money can buy/build an aircraft carrier. Looking at both the Liaoning carrier and comparing it to the Nimitz class Yankee carrier, or even the earlier Enterprise class carriers is a joke. They are separated by lightyears in technology level. And owning one is just a small part of the equation, How about operational experience? The US has been operating aircraft carriers since WW2 or WW1? How much experience does Ah Tiong have in deploying an aircraft carrier? Might be a good idea to start learning from the Nippon nation first! China is modernisiing. China is progressing, China is not a poor man anymore. But any thought of projecting her power beyond her borders. need more time, and lessons first. Her naval vessels can be destroyed by Vietnamese or Japanese navies. And that's not very far from home.

i dont see what light years apart technology u are talking about,all the essential parts are there......the ciws are present,the anti air and anti ship missile defenses are present,i assume all the defenses against threats against aircraft carriers are also present,the tiongs arent going to forget something like that.also dont forget this is the same exact hull as the russian aircraft carrier.the russian commissioned two aircraft carriers to be built,one of the hulls was sold to the chinese after the collapse of the soviet union.......and trust me soviet technology aint no joke.also the chinks have way more money than the russians,they have plenty of opportunities to upgrade their ship and retrofit it with better ship and weapons systems whenever they like.

now this aircraft carrier may not be as grand as america's aircraft carriers but 30 planes is still substantial firepower,im thinking if one of america's aircraft carriers were to encounter 3 liaonings aircraft carrier groups,they would have a tough fight on their hands.......im pretty sure 3 of liaonings would be able to inflict severe or heavy damage on one nitmitz,especially the fact that 3 aircraft carriers can outflank and outmaneuveur one easily.china's edge will lie in their reputation in manufacturing extremely cheap stuff of decent technology in massive quantities,once the chinks come out with the 3rd or 4th generation prototypes of the aircraft carrier,they would ramp up production and pretty soon there will be 100 made in china aircraft carriers in the sea vs 11 american.
