In the process of helping the country why is it wrong to make some money which can be considered as their wages? Has anyone lost anything in the process?

Their market worth is much more so 'obscene wages' as applied to them is a matter of perspective. They can appear to earn unreasonably much money in relation to what we think they do but in reality they , I am sure do much more than what is visible to us. Many others who are as capable as them and who never served in the Government earn far far more ( read Dr Susan Lim ) and come under far less public scrutiny.

I thought sillypootians kpkp that their pay should not be astronomical , but reasonable.

earning a high pay does not prevent corruption !
many "normal" joe getting excessively high pay were caught and jailed for
performing illegal illicit activities like insider trading , fixing the LIBOR , cooking the book .......

one of the main factors that make a normal joe to be corrupt is opportunity
coupled with the knowledge that he will most likely to get away with it.

Obama definitely is poorly paid. His income as US Prez is US$400k per annum.

Professional athletes, sitcom actors, entertainers, general managers, directors, owners of SMEs, medical specialists, above average property and insurance agents make more than he does even though they handle only a fraction of his responsibilities.

tis shows u that the pay of worker does not really correlate with what he is perceived to be worth.
how much a worker get paid or is worth depends on many factors such as the market, political landscape ,
the prevailing laws and regulation , especially labour law.

professional basket ball players , insurance agents , actors are making more than Oh BamMa
not because they are worth it , simply because of above mentioned factors.
CeO of sing and tell can lock herself inside the office playing computer game for 6 months
and it would not have the slightly effect on the share price and her bonus.
