I shared with my friend that I just had a pay cut of 18%.

He told me that SMEs are badly hit too. He works in a small family business and used to help out with deliveries. Now, deliveries are completed by 11am and there's nothing to do in afternoon. To make ends meet, he is now using his van for Foodpanda delivery for lunch and dinner hours.

When I read the papers, COE prices and bank shares are higher than earlier half of this year, Malaysian investors (IOI) is paying $2 billion for a plot of land in city, government saying there are lots of jobs around, REITs paying more dividends, teachers quitting their high-paying jobs for less stressful, greener pastures, etc

Everything looks good on the whole, except for folks around me.

Just Lee family BSing with your money. But of course they have amassed more than 50USD billion for themselves.

Ah Neh Botak say there are still available jobs for sinkees.Just don't forget to go for reskilling...skill ji ki lan.

Why want to stick in old job might as well compete with younger generation. Jobs and education is only STEM which shd change with time. Go kick some dust and chop tables with the young generation which the STEM u can handle.

My friend said he can't be driving GrabCar or uber as he has only commercial vehicle.

Ya, even driving uber and GrabCar has no job security ten years down the road, as Singapore is the most enthusiastic cities to develop driverless taxi in the world. At least food delivery will still need someone to delivery the right order to the doorstep.

it's better to work in civil service or govt-link corporations.
DBS just gave away a Mercedes Coupe for their Dinner & Dance lucky draw last weekend.

Yes govt related corp or civil servants is the best options. Govt using citizen money to pay ur wages what can went wrong. Haha as long all citizen mati then you wont get your salary.:D

Singtel, Starhub are shaky. The pay TV revenue has peaked, with so many OTT services and free football streaming. The phone and SMS revenue stream is also fading fast with Wechat, Whatsapp, Skype, etc.
