i believe the internet was created for much higher purposes,communication between universities and research facilities,the porn industry evolved from the commercialization of the internet,thats when people started seeing commercial purposes for the internet and started targeting the lowest common denominator of the population,pandering to the masses.i dunno if it was the main driving force of the interent,sure porn is a big thing but the internet flourished only because the personal computer technology flourished increasing number of users and nodes and communications infrastructure improved.the internet is nothing more than a giant network of computers communicating with each another.

and its not hard to make money,just give people what they want which is easy considering almost every human being in the world is greedy,lazy and seeks pleasure constantly.
