Singapore Firms Going Out of Business in 'Ominous' Sign: Chart

-1x-1.png

The number of businesses in Singapore that closed shop in December exceeded those that were formed by the widest margin since 2005. Some 7,120 companies stopped operations, compared with 4,757 that were created, according to the statistics department. Joseph Incalcaterra, an economist at HSBC, describes the move as “ominous,” saying it signals weaker services output in the first half.

Malls are always full of people and full of tenants. There is no need to worry because of low unemployment and growing household income, former businessmen can easily find jobs that pays as well. For that you have to thank the PAP.

This is something I don't understand. If you go out on a Saturday or Sunday, I bet you will struggle to find a seat in a eating place in the entire Yishun Central. The queue at Swensen Changi Airport is longer than the taxi queue. Singaporeans seem to be doing really well.

Obviously the crowds are just window shopping. I often window shop & then buy the stuff elsewhere e.g. in JB, or online

retail is a sun set business in singapore. that is why i think Reits payout cant be sustained in long term.

except F&B, tuition centre in shopping mall. then the rest of retailing really hard to survive.

online business still good. like alibaba , facebook etc.

health business also can try. i think F&B and tuition business still blossom.
