Canadians have a Govt which is run more efficiently than the one run by pappies in sinkie land.

With respect, the Canadian federal government, the Ontario provincial government, and the local Toronto municipal government, do not appear to be run or managed "efficiently", but I suppose that although it appears to be less efficient than the Singapore government (amongst other reasons, possibly because it has always been run by one political party with the advantage of very long term planning, it is much smaller and therefore, easier to "run"), the Canadians are more balanced, and try not leave as many people behind as others.

There is some form of social safety net for the medically and/or financially needy, such as the federal Guaranteed Income Supplement for senior citizens, free medicare (for now).

Sometimes, I wonder that those who claim that Singapore is so much better, is it because it is so much better, only for the financially wealthy?

The Malaysian EPF is modeled on that and gives better returns (6.75% versus 2.5) and is the closest in concept to the original British model. If the PAP had kept it that way, its fine. i dont think its wise to guarantee such high interest,instead it creates unrealistic expectations and destabilises the institution(by transferring all the risk to CPF while people get risk free returns),instead sinkies should be taught to understand reality,that there has to be risk in everything,tolerating risk in part and parcel of life,in the world of investing there are good years and bad years,people have to learn to embrace that some years it will be negative but some years we will do very well but in the long run over 20 or more years it averages out to far greater returns.
