On 20 January, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that between November and December 2015, 27 male Bangladeshi construction workers were arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for possessing and disseminating jihadist material and holding meetings in mosques to discuss armed jihad.
Several of the construction workers were accused of contemplating waging armed jihad in the Middle East or against the Bangladeshi government. Material including jihadist books, videos (with footage of children undergoing training in terrorist military camps), and a document on how to conduct "silent killings" using weapons were also recovered. This follows the May 2015 arrest of two Singaporean youths allegedly radicalised after viewing online terrorist propaganda.
