A truck driver in China was caught on camera with an inflatable doll in his cab and he told police he put it there to deter petrol thieves, a newspaper reported.
A surveillance camera on a highway in Qingyuan county in Zhejiang province caught the scene with the driver and his “assistant” buckled up in the front seat before traffic police stopped his container truck on Wednesday night, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.
The man said he was transporting goods from Guangdong province to Lishui in Zhejiang and it was common for petrol to be stolen while truck drivers slept at night.
The driver was quoted as saying that he dressed the doll up to look like a real person so that thieves would think somebody was awake in the cab.
He told police the idea had worked quite well.
