I lost around $300 at the gambling tables. It was just for fun, win or lose. I don't take gambling seriously because the odds are against the player. In the long run, the house wins. I kept that idea firmly in mind, so I brought about $500 to the casino. Win, play on. Lose up till $500, laugh it off and go do something else permanently. It was a one time thing.

Lost $30,000 years ago in my first business venture. It was a very expensive lesson as it was money I couldn't afford to lose. Had to hold down a regular job for a couple of years to regain my financial stability. After that, did a joint venture with some partners. Made that $30k back and still doing well after all these years. Promoted into the ranks of elite.

I'm impressed by all sorts of business people who are risk takers so I can only be a employee.

I suggest you take up some self-improvement hobbies..do anything that you can improve yourself..

or why not take up a hobby of making things around you improve a little a day..

start with your own things in the house or in your job. This will occupy you and you have no time for pussy or gambling.

half a million usd when i hesitated in cashing in on vested stock options. total value was usd1m but tax would have taken away half the sum. anyway, it was like a gift and thus it was just loss on paper. managed to sell the last batch of that stock to get some cash in the hundreds of thousands. had to pay uncle sam over a hundred thousand in tax the following year. some in sillycon belly fell into double jeopardy by exercising their stock options but deferred selling them by one year to qualify for long term capital gains tax which is less than half of short term capital gains tax. a year later, the stock value dropped below vested value (all gains gone) yet they had to pay income and short term capital gains tax on the previous year's value (at time of exercise). lucky me, didn't fall for that trap. it's a lesson for all who are new to u.s. stock options and taxation. consult with an experienced investment guru before you liquidate your stocks.

Yes I understand from your title that's why I posted. Losing money in business can be quite horrible and this year personally lost a big one in Myanmar.

Recently just lost 2k in a single day :( I have not experienced more than 5k richer in a single day.

i mean hobbies of self-improvement lah, not some crappy hobbies that normal sinkies waste money and time on it.

hobbies of self-improvement such as learning a skill that can earn you an income later on.

improve your health such as taking up juicing and getting knowledge of health, exercise.

if you take up these hobbies seriously, you will have health and wealth.. feel good and have money.

and you can enjoy pleasures in life without gambling and pussies.

There are some of us who earn more than $15k a month, spend less than $4k a month on expenses. Can afford to splurge $2k - $4k a month on mistress and still save a lot each month, though I would not recommend that guys do things like that.
