Do we really need to pay TOP earners that level of salary?

There's the argument that u need to pay TOP earners more because they increase the size of the pie. Sure if the pie is growing everyone gets more and if the TOP r responsible then it's fair to give them more. But what if the pie is stagnant or shrinking?? If the TOP gets more, it means everyone gets less!! That's def NO K! So when we r going into a recession, the pie is shrinking, the income distribution have to readjusted so that the TOP gets less and everyone maintains. Agree? The problem is the TOP layer holds the balance of power so that whatever happens, they still come out on TOP!

May not be such a bad idea. The way society is heading, we r going back to the days of the French Revolution! The rich is getting richer and the poor poorer.
