Was surprised to stumble upon this bit of news! Dog meat in Jakarta! Been there a couple of times, never came across any Angin Daging Restoran, thought it was only our yellow skinned slant eyed brothers who ate dog. From the article, it seems that it is legitimately supplied and sold. Anyone of you tasted it yet?

Cheers!

Jakartans among the highest consumers of dog meat Thejakartapost.com, Jakarta | Jakarta | Mon, September 28 2015, 6:41 PM

Jakarta and Surakarta residents are among the highest consumers of dog meat in Indonesia, according to the Jakarta Marine and Agriculture Agency."Around 40 dogs enter the capital city every day through Cililitan [in East Jakarta]," said the agency's head Darjamuni on Monday as quoted by tempo.co.Darjamuni said that most of the dogs came from Sukabumi in West Java, where rabies was endemic."The agency is also responsible for overseeing the [dog] meat distribution; not just beef and lamb," said Darjamuni.Darjamuni added that the Jakarta administration had to stay alert with regard to dog meat distribution, since the capital city had been declared free from rabies.According to the agency's head of husbandry and animal health, Sri Hartati, the consumption of dog meat in Jakarta was still high, although limited to certain groups."The agency is currently working on its supervision and regulation of the consumption of this meat," said Sri. Yes. Muslims may be the majority, but not all belong to Islam. Bataks are Catholics. Sometimes, my associate in Jakarta takes me to a roadside stall operated by a Batak family, and they have a very good barbecued pork dish which I have grown quite fond of. Lots of Chinese there too. Indonesia is very diverse.

Cheers!

Javanese are not Moslems.

so why aren't they being condemned by it? Oh yeah they aren't chinese only when chinese eat dogs then it's bad.

As you can see the morality standards are not based on your actions but on your race/social standing and so on.

Go read on my thread about deng xiao peng was a m&d or shit skin making the white cat black cat comparison

Update for this article: Dog meat sold in Jakarta is not regulated, but there is some thought and discussion about the safety of its consumption, that of rabies. I think whether its dog meat, or any other meat, one should be aware of the health of the animal before ingesting it. Back when I was in Sec 3, me and a few classmates killed a python, and drank its blood. At the time of the incident, it never crossed our minds that its blood could be infected with parasites, and we drank it raw! One of the things I will never do again.

Cheers!

No regulating of dog meat consumption, city official says the jakartapost.com

Jakarta | Wed, September 30 2015, 3:58 PM

The Jakarta city administration has denied that the city authorities plan to regulate the consumption of dog meat, following a report that Jakarta residents are among the highest consumers of dog meat in this country.According to the head of the husbandry and animal health division at the City Maritime, Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Agency, Sri Hartati, the city may need a gubernatorial regulation to control the spread of rabies disease.“The main objective is to control rabies. That is all. We will invite relevant parties share their various opinions so that [the regulation] delivers what it should,” Sri said as reported by kompas.com on Wednesday.Sri said that her agency was concerned about possible spread of rabies, particularly because the city’s dog meat mostly came from Sukabumi, West Java, which is a rabies endemic area. She said that Jakarta had been rabies free since 2014 and her institution had tried to prevent the rabies virus from returning to the capital city by any means necessary, including vaccinating dogs living in the city.Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama also said that he would not issue a specific gubernatorial regulation on dog meat consumption.“We are not talking about the consumption of dog meat, but [rather] reports from residents that there are many dogs infected with rabies viruses entering Jakarta,” Ahok said.Meanwhile, head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Body (BPOM) in Jakarta Dewi Prawitasari said that the city administration needs to intensify the monitoring of dog meat to ensure that the dog meat consumed by people is free from rabies.“The bottom line is that the meat should be healthy and safe for consumption,” said Dewi as reported by tempo.co, adding that the BPOM was not responsible for the condition of raw meat and that it was the City Maritime, Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Agency that was.Previously, it was reported that Jakarta residents are among the highest consumers of dog meat in this country. According to the agency, around 40 dogs enter the capital city every day through Cililitan in East Jakarta from Sukabumi.
