The PAP Team for West Coast GRC saved the day for Reform Party.
The Reform Party candidates had not stated whether they were contesting as a party or as independents on the form, which had been signed by the Commissioner of Oath.
Mr Iswaran said: "It was grounds for disqualification. But we felt it was important to point this out and give them opportunity to rectify the mistake in good time. We are not looking to win by default on a technicality - we want a fair fight."
This required the Reform Party candidates to take down the form, and correct the entry and have it certified by the Commissioner of Oath at the centre.
They managed to do this within about 10 to 15 minutes, and not miss the 12 noon deadline when nominations close.
Asked how the Reform Party responded, Mr Iswaran said: "They were surprised and appreciated the fact that we pointed it out in good time."
He added: "We did this in the spirit of being fair."

It's a walkover for the pappies as the oppo contesting there is 3rd rate. Its hard enough even if WP was contesting there. .those west coast ppl will vote for any dog n pig from the pap. With a 3rd rate oppo as opponent. .they will even vote for a pap cockroaches. But at least the pappies will get tied down..n 3rd rate oppo will b cannon fodder

Iswaran really got lucky today. Up against RP, he knows he will win by a margin larger than the national PAP average. By saving KJ, he looks bloody good to both sides of the fence. His political masters are pleased with him.

It doesn't matter. Everyone and their dog knows the eastern part of SG will be the main stage of this election.
