I Voted George Yeo out in 2011

Back in 2011, I gave my vote to WP. Why?

As a young adult, I wanted change. Don’t ask me why I wanted change; all I know is change is good. At the back of my mind, a voice is telling me that we need more opposition in Singapore. I should have given Uncle George Yeo a chance and at least read PAP’s manifesto.

The Blue Wave

On hindsight, the brainchild of WP’s campaigning in 2011 was a genius. No wonder they are “the” opposition.

Messages that targeted the heartstrings:

Promising “Checks and Balances” to the government
Need for different views
Important to have opposition in parliament
Star candidates and for once, there are genuine good opposition
Labelling PAP as high and mighty, losing touch with the ground
These are simple, straight forward and smart messaging. I particularly like the “Checks and Balances”; it was infectious and resonates well with me. The rest of the messaging goes well with the average Singaporean too.

Rally at Serangoon Stadium

I attended the rally at Serangoon Stadium. It was mind-blowing! I’ve never seen the stadium so packed before.

Couple of days later, images of PAP’s rallies versus WP’s started circulating. : )

4 years later

Four years later, life is pretty much the same. I’ve never seen any WP MPs on my estate. I don’t hear anything concrete coming from WP in parliament and the AHPETC saga is irritating. Why can’t WP come clean, admit the errors and move on? Don’t they need the grants from Ministry of National Development to maintain the estate?

What should a voter do now?

1) Flip through the manifesto of parties contesting in your area and think:

Do the proposals make sense?
Are there any long-term plans?
2) Be objective, don’t be influenced by blogs like RTSN

If you’re feeling like what I’m feeling – White Party is not my ideal choice and the opposition kind of hopeless, you can always spoil your votes. Yes, spoil your votes but do it properly.

Spoil your votes by casting a blank vote.

LKY is right all along...Aljunied residents will regret and repent for voting in the Opps. His words may sound blunt, but we know that he is telling the hard truth. If he is still alive, it must have pained his heart to see the state of Aljunied today with its finances in shambles.

Dear Joe

I am glad you voted correctly in GE2011. For GE2015, I would like for you to stop being a selfish and self-centered little prick and think. Do not be myopic but look beyond Aljunied GRC. Look at issues at the national level. Many battles make up a war. The war has began and will need patriots to keep the faith at every battle, even in the face of oppression and self doubt.

White Party should not be anyone's ideal choice now and in the future. And opposition are not hopeless. If only you knew how the growth of opposition parties have been stunted by the dead emperor and his cronies for decades. Think of the pap as a full growth adult, but opposition are teenagers finding their way about. You have to be patient. You have to trust that voice that tells you we need more opposition in Parliament. Don't spoil your vote. If you do, you are doing yourself and your loved ones a great dis-service. You will be trampling on a rare once-in-five-years chance to be the boss of the White Party. A rare occasion when they are actually afraid of you.

So continue to cast your vote for the WP. They and their views may not be well represented in the MSM (for obvious reasons!), but know that they are doing their best. It is no easy feat taking on the pap machinery. Know that they are trustworthy and are not bumbling fools. In fact, they are the beacon of hope for a better Singapore. And you need to do your part. Vote for them.

It is no easy feat taking on the pap machinery. Know that they are trustworthy and are not bumbling fools. In fact, they are the beacon of hope for a better Singapore. And you need to do your part. Vote for them.

That's what the moles do. They use so much vulgarities online to make people hate the opposition and sow discord among the parties. They call TS a prick! They don't even bother to first explain why the vote in GE2011 was the correct one and what to do for GE2015. TS was called a prick up front. Do they really care who you vote for? No, not the moles. Their objective is to crumble Singapore first, sink Singapore into chaos is what they want to see. Don't fall for it! Why should anyone vote for the opposition just because you hate the other party? Especially when the opposition doesn't do any better than the previous team. Doesn't make sense. Now that the point was made in 2011, why not bring back the previous team?
