Vote for a party whom you trust to manage your money and town council

According to the Channel NewsAsia news report “Vote for a party whom you trust to manage your money and town council: DPM Teo” (Aug 14) – “”Essentially what happened was this: Hougang town council was running a deficit, they took over Aljunied, a town council which was in surplus (following the 2011 General Election).

They took over Punggol East from Pasir Ris-Punggol town council which was also in surplus. Now the whole Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) is in deficit,”

“How did that happen, how did a large surplus turn into deficit? Where did the money go?”

Why AHPETC ran into a deficit?

Some of the possible reasons why AHPETC went into a deficit may be

… the legislation is such that when a town council is won by a
different party in an election – 100 per cent of the accumulated surplus
has to be transferred to the sinking fund

… the town council’s software was taken away in what is now known as the “$2 AIM company” saga

… $14 million of grants were held back even whilst the
process of the audit team was on-going and not completed yet

Vote for a party whom you trust to manage your money?

As to “make sure they’re the ones you want to manage your money” – what about the non-transparency of the difference between the returns derived from our CPF funds, relative to the interest that we get on our CPF?

WP’s performance in Parliament?

As to ““CROCODILE TEARS” - Mr Teo also took aim at the Workers’ Party’s track record in Parliament, saying their silence on some issues stood in contrast to their boisterous rallies.

“Some people come alive during an election. Some campaign very well. Wonderful rallies getting people worked up. It’s easier to get people riled up and unhappy. Even I know how to do that. It’s much harder to get people to work together on a difficult project – to make trade-offs, strike balances, then unite and work together. That’s much more difficult.

“During the elections you can have a party that does all kinds of rabble-rousing, inflaming emotions, influencing the way people vote. But when they get elected into Parliament, these fierce issues which they talk about during elections … they’re silent, even when they can engage the Parliament directly.”" - Why is it that whilst it was only recently disclosed that our CPF funds have been managed by the GIC – but a former Manpower Minister replied to question by WP’s Low Khia Thiang in Parliament in 2007 that the GIC does not manage CPF funds, and a former Prime Minister also said that there is no link between the GIC and CPF funds?

I recall that Chee Soon Juan was sued till his pants dropped for making similar remarks at then-PM Goh. Will WP dare to sue DPM Teo for alleged defamation, or will they, when faced with the hard facts, walk away with head bowed and tail tucked between their legs?

"This set me thinking back to 2001 during the general elections when I was campaigning at a market in Jurong East with Dr Chee Soon Juan. Then-prime minister Goh Chok Tong had showed up to campaign for the PAP.

Dr Chee had raised the issue of Singapore's secretive US$10 billion loan-pledge to Suharto just before the corrupt Indonesian dictator was toppled in May 1998.

Upon seeing Mr Goh, Dr Chee asked him “Where is our money?” referring to the US$10 billion. Mr Goh, without saying a word, pointed to his pocket and waved us away, giving the impression that the money had landed there.

The media seized on the exchange to portray Dr Chee as gangster-like. MediaCorp's edited footage made it look like the SDP secretary-general was tailgating and harassing the prime minister with the loudhailer.

This was not what happened. We were outnumbered by those in white and drowned out by chants of "PAP! PAP!" Dr Chee had to raise his voice to make himself heard."

This excerpt is taken from the infamous 3in1 kopitiam, an exchange between two contributors.

When Singapore was politically unstable in the 1960s, Ah Gong launched Operation Coldstore. That ushered in an era of 50 years of peace and stability and prosperity for Singapore. Singapore, to many grassrooters, seem to be lurching towards political instability. I wonder if it is time to launch Operation Coldstore 2? That may issue in yet another golden age for Singapore, and SG100 would be a greater celebration than SG50.

money got detained by PAP & went to fund Temasick reckless gamble with our money! VTO

They are just trying to milk the matter.
Why don't they call in prosecutors to check - like they did in Kong Hee's case?

The Kong Hee case has been dragging on for years. As a loyal patriot and staunch government supporter, I can't help but express disappointment over how long this case has taken. It is not in public interest for such a high-profile case to drag on for years, wasting time and money and resources from all parties involved.

again, you are insinuating that the public prostituter is slow and lazy and dragging their feet in resolving kong hee fatt choy case.

John Tan fake PAP supporter working hard on reverse psychology again.

Where is the money, Low? Where is it? Where? Don't think you keep quiet nobody know huh? Where is the money?

On the flip side, what basis does PAP based on to withheld the Town Concil funds?

Is Aljunied/Hougang TC convicted of any crime? In fact, has any police or magistrate complaint been filed against the TC?

If just by any verbal accusation can cause the fund to be withheld against the benefit of the residents, isn't this unjust punishment for the residents?

We are asking where did our CPF returns go? They earn 7 percent return and we get 2.5 percent. Where is the rest?

Prove that GIC and Temasek really have the money that it claims to have. Have an international audit firm show sinkees the financials; we have a right to know.

I wonder if this sleeper even knows how to read financial documents.

Why does he file a police report against the WP TC?

He can't ...so he just talk like a village fool. And he is the DPM? No wonder the Indians are running the government.

Where is the money, Low? Where is it? Where? Don't think you keep quiet nobody know huh? Where is the money?

Eh after the erection we will show you where is the money ok?

Why you so goondu on? buay song ah? sue lor. What you waiting for?

No basis ah? then you kong for song si boh? KNN.

DPM is desperate. If they fail to get back Aljunied after all these attacks, they will completely surrender, similar to Hougang. This is their final chance.
