[TD] The critical water levels at Sungai Layang and Sungai Lebam dams have left Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) little choice but to push for water rationing in several districts.

The state water concessionaire wrote to the National Water Service Commission (Span) yesterday to get the commission’s approval to initiate rationing in Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.

Even Singapore had expressed concern as water levels at the Linggiu Reservoir in Johor, which supplies water to the republic, had also receded.

SAJ corporate communications chief Jamaluddin Jamal described yesterday’s readings as “alarming”.

“The water level at the Sungai Lebam dam is at 9.57m, way below the critical level of 12.27m. The water level at Sungai Layang dam is now 19.19m, also below the critical level of 23.5m,” he said.

“The water levels have been dropping despite the rain. But it’s not enough. We need prolonged thunderstorms to fill them up.”

If they potong the water, then what'll we do? Some people in white hv uttered the answer before, will they dare to carry out their words?

they few days of thunderstorm had filled our reservoirs to the brim.
they can sell u for at least a few millionas bucks

It's a pity that Vivien won't have more to worry about, considering that he doesn't usually have much to worry about and has yet to find his niche in the cabinet. ;)

If PAP thinks it will lose the GE, it stir things up with Mudland and possibly go to war.

I thought they always boast of how independent we are with shitwater?
Where's the arrogance now?

The Chinese have a saying that when the water goes down, the rock will be seen.

The govt bs on water independence is on the verge of being exposed.

i certainly hope that we can be self sufficient someday. the s'pore spirit is to endure all the nonsense created by our muslim neighbours.

How can Spore ever be self sufficient if they continue to import millions of foreigners:confused:
Water supply is finite while the greed of the PAP is infinite

The PAP has failed to put in the infrastructure required for the extra millions of foreigners. Just look at the problems: congested roads & public transport, long queues at polyclinics, lack of hospital beds, ...

Dirty ceiling gave him sleepless nights

Silly matlanders realize they been selling to singapore government too cheaply! SG build a desalination plant then hike up water prices, sell more and more to sinkies, incoming foreigners and industries, making record profits from selling other country's water supply. PAP is genius, anything can also make money!
