The Singapore Manpower Ministry today (July 8) announced sweeping changes to the existing employment regulations in view of the coming General Elections which was speculated by the government-controlled media to be on September 12 this year:

1) Starting October 1, employers will be required to publish the salary range of the job vacancies in the national Job Bank.

2) Employers who do not state the salary range in the Job Bank will not be allowed to hire foreigners on Employment Passes (EPs).

3) Employers with a high number of foreigner employees will require to submit information whether if Singaporeans are considered fairly for the jobs.

4) Foreigners with dubious degrees, especially those from degree mills, will have their work passes rejected.

5) For the next two years, employers who employ mature PMEs (not sure if applies to Singaporeans only) who have been unemployed for at least six months into mid-level jobs that pay at least S$4,000 will receive 40% in wage subsidies from the Singapore Government, with a subsidy cap of S$2,800 a month per employee.

6) An employment dispute tribunal, Employment Claims Tribunal (ECT), will be set up to resolve statutory and contractual employment disputes for all employees who earn less than S$4,500 a month.

Let's see how this whole thing pans out.
Why wait till October, why not August onwards.
Why 4500, why not 10k.

october erection lah... after october they review and decide otherwise if they win, if they lose a few GRC, they will enforce, if they lose majority, then you can be fully assure this is cast in stone.

so.. since they choose to stand on the edge, a little push will help.

If PAP wins, this policy will be enforced.

If PAP loses more GRCs, then we might end up with a politically unstable country. Then all promises made go up in smoke.

Why not wait till Dec 2015? Cash in on the euphoria of Downtown Line Stage 2 opening. ;)

Vote in more oppositions for fair competition, and make PAP work hard for us.
If they still maintain 2/3 majority, their aristocrat mindset will remain.

Votes are encouraged to vote wisely, and not vote foolishly just to 'shock' the PAP government. Voters should not treat elections like circuses or tikam-tikam.

why worry about promises up in smoke. as it is alrdy, CPF cut not restored, CPF not paid at 55.

CPF used to paid out at 55 because decades ago, most sinkies lived till about 60. Now with the average sinkie hanging on till about 75-80 years old, God help us all if sinkies are allowed to cash out their CPF at 55 years old and squander it all by 60 years old.

there is no need for shock.. when your servant becomes a serpent. you should know the horrible venom that follow. as it is now... the FAP circus is well

Yes, definitely to vote wisely.
Never ever give away two-third majority.
Otherwise, we would end up quasi-dictatorial parliament.

Zorro Lim will be the next sacrificial lamb. east coast grc is not secure anymore.

Clear sign of election coming. PAP now on damage control mode. Maybe too little, too late.

Pure BS ...if PAP loses, then the coalition government will do more than this to restore jobs for sinkees. We don't need the PAP.

CPF is our money ...we are entitled to them.

For a person who saves $10k a year for 30 years in the CPF, he should be receiving $1.3 million at age 55, not the paltry $450k.

You cannot trust the PAP government with your money!

How could the voters NOT treat the elections like circuses when all they see NOW are 80+ clowns, jesters and monkeys sitting around making noises like monkeys do with the circus ring Master and his side kick clowning around with the peasant's retirement fund?
