The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were informed of the incident at about 9am on Tuesday. A witness, who did not wish to be named, said that the woman was running down the escalator, possibly to catch a train that was leaving. She was midway down the escalator when she lost her balance and fell, the witness told Lianhe Wanbao. She landed on her back, with her high-heeled feet resting on the last two escalator steps. SMRT staff came to offer assistance, and stopped the escalator. She could not move and complained of severe back pain.
