Clapping after eulogies is OK?

Generally social etiquette requires those present at funeral ceremonies not to indulge in clapping or in any other display of joy. However, at LKY's funeral ceremony, there was clapping from all the invitees after each speaker had delivered his/her eulogy. Those westerners who had watched the ceremony would be having a good laugh at our "first world" manners.
