Tim Cook to donate his fortune to charity

By Sophia Yan @sophia_yan

Apple CEO Tim Cook is giving hundreds of millions of dollars to charity.

Cook, who is close to becoming a billionaire, says he will pay for his nephew's college education, then donate the rest of his wealth to philanthropic projects, according to Fortune.

Cook isn't the first top executive to give his money away.

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates launched The Giving Pledge in 2010 -- a campaign to persuade billionaires to give at least half of their fortunes to charity. More than a hundred have signed up so far, including Michael Bloomberg and Facebook (FB, Tech30)'s Mark Zuckerberg.
Others, like Cook, are going their own way. Last year, Alibaba (BABA, Tech30) co-founder Jack Ma started a multi-billion dollar charity.
Cook certainly has plenty of funds to give away. His pay at Apple (AAPL, Tech30) more than doubled last year to $9.2 million, according to a regulatory filing. In 2014, $145 million worth of stock awards vested, and he's got another $536 million in stock awards to come.

Didn't you read the correct media? LKY had donated his entire life to Singapore. Don't be ungrateful! Don't be too greedy!

The estate laws were quickly abolished before the death of the Gecko.

obviously all that loot will be kept by the famiLee.

if it is true, he would have died long time ago. instead is living like dracula sucking the life and energy from all sinkies. no wonder all sinkies lifeless and unhappy.

Khoo Teck Puat alone contributed more than $200 million for his Estate Duty in 2004..

He dutifully paid this sum for re-distribution for the less fortunate .

LKY's thick creamy spermy semen is dripping all over your head and face. Lick it all up.

Oh yeah? Why u keep the sperm of your gay partners on your face like a permanent tattoo? Don't u know it is rude to speak with your 'face full'? Lol lol lol

For such kind of ppl who would abolish death taxes to serve their needs.

You must be still sleeping. LOL

If this did not tell you the li's attitude towards charity, nothing will.

Too late to ask this question, he's gone go ask his familee

I have absolutely no idea how much Mr Lee gave informally, but I do know as a fact that he is desperately cursing himself now that he did not give $500 million more.

you should be grateful for that otherwise it will take 50 man-year to clear up that mess

If somebody has donated something there is no return expected.

Just thinking if a country leader is thrifty but not donating his legacy assets, then what is the use of the virtue of being thrifty to the country?
