Myth about a great Singapore leader

For once, Sideswipe is wrong. ;)

His greatest bullshit was convincing people (grateful gongkias) that he and his family members (and whoever else he names) is exceptional.

i'm sure extraction for exceptional sperm continues 24 by 7 while he's still in icliao, oops i mean icyew, oops again, icu.

Surely his son can be used for sperm extraction, nevermind the lurking prostate cancer cells.

That was due to his irrational fear of commies or socialists whom he thought were mostly Chinese-educated and were a threat to his grip on power. Hence he fucked over Nantah and slapped restrictions on Chinese schools.

When China started becoming an economic powerhouse, he started kissing China's ass and called for more Sinkies to be 'effectively bilingual' or be 'bicultural experts'.

My mother's generation was very proud of Nantah, for they, however poor they were, contributed, their stipend however small it was for the building of Nantah. All it took was for.......to bring it down!, her generation, never forgot that...she actually has something she use to say, which I apologise if this is offensive ...She use to remark, " that man, is a BABA Seow, what he knows about Chinese culture"...that is the opinion of that generation, my mum has already passed on...

as i've posted previously, he was totally turned towards the camp that favored the western allies political and economic model, in an extremely bi-polar world after ww2. if the allies had not won, he would be fully behind the nazi-jap model of world domination with master-slavery treatment in full swing. his fortune turned an opportunistic and favorable new page when the allies won, and malaya fell into the orbit of the western allies before any seizure by various commie factions, as evidenced in eastern europe, korean peninsula, china and indo-china. post-war japan was even a target both externally and internally. who were the people needed most to stall the commie juggernaut at those critical times? yup, no doubt about it. surviving nazi gestapo agents and sympathizers in eastern europe and jap kempeitai agents and collaborators in asia. they were rounded up by western allied intell agencies, re-indoctrinated, trained, protected in safehouses, and re-issued identities and missions for their new roles in the cold war. our ky is sg's most effective, secretive and long-serving, besides nathan his good kempeitai buddy, triple-quadruple intelligence agent the world has ever known still serving undercover (literally in the icu) as pm, mm, sm, em, bdsm all these years as part of the continuing saga of shoring up south east asia, not just sg, against the extreme leftist commie inclinations of the local population on behalf of the west-jap-jewish model of the new world. of course, china is now more capitalistic and fascist than the u.s. today in master-slave reality, and thus, it's ok to fall within ky's graces. :D

Old Fart was just ordinary ...it is not that big a deal to bring sinkapore to first world.

Hong Kong managed to achieve that without subduing rights, the judiciary, the unions. There were no strong man to do that, just a governor appointed by Britain.

Hong Kong has no resources either. In fact, it had more challenging conditions.

The fact is Old Fart painted himself to be a godsend to sinkapore. He wasn't. He play Russian roulette with the lives of sinkees. He didn't lose only because the task wasn't as complex as he painted it.

But now we are burdened with the consequences of his idiotic policies.

Yes...I agree....the ruling elite over-hyped the Singapore success stories too many a time.

Just like property price and asset appreciation, it happens all over the world capital, not just Singapore ...u name it..Sydney, London, Hongkong, New York, Shanghai..etc.

Many just allude this to the PAP government that brings about this price appreciation and credit them for bringing us to the First World.

So under this illusion, the PM and his lap-dogs over-hyped the Singapore success stories and pay themselves obscene pay-out, claiming credit for themselves.

This is the ire and the people resent it and the cyber bashing will continue till they awake from their stupor .

I am born in the era of the creation of the GRC and I believe without Lee Kuan Yew's foresight to creat the GRC Singapore would have collapse into racial war, long live Lee Kuan Yew, long live GRC, long live PAP.

Well said. I have added to your points.

Singapore is a overwhelming success?lmao people who say that obviously have never been outside this tiny country.compared to the likes of Melbourne and london city,SG is a 2nd rate template cut and paste city of mediocrity at best.economic success?go look up south Korea's economic miracle, they are a powerhouse in many sectors, our economy is nothing but bullshit based on cheap labor and low wages.

Singapore is the neighbourhood star. Our success is built on being a good landlord of a business park for the corporations of world. Nothing Global will ever originate from Singapore especially anything run by the scholar class. Even they know that , hence the open arms ( the crude would say legs) to the world. But even this workable formula is flawed in implementation. Why ? I am not telling. Let the highly paid jokers figure it out.

nevermind the prostate cancer but how about the albino part?

That was the exceptional part, they are exceptional, cannot produce an Albini, did the wife of "mee siam main hum", took an exception?

one of LKY's greatest bullshit was convincing the people that without English as the no.1 language, the country would sink and die. his suppression of the Chinese language/culture is justified because of that. what nonsense and bullshit. so many countries know shit English and are doing very well. this is already 2015 and dialects are still banned on free-to-air TV. why can't the PAP lift the damn ban ?

Agree. Economic powerhouses like China, Japan, S. Korea and Germany succeeded without English as their first language.

Old fart's motives for pushing English were largely political: to alienate and cripple the Chinese-educated and Nantah grads who were left-leaning and hence a threat to his reign. The other reason was his trying to pander to demands of the MNCs, most of which used English as their working language.

If there's one legitimate reason why we should learn English, it's because we're a multi-racial country and need a common language for communication, trade and commerce. English would be a good choice as a lingua franca, since it had always been the official language in the civil service and all govt institutions, a legacy of Brit rule. Malay, our national language, would be the other choice.

Lee Kuan Yew should have let the opposition run this country to ruins. Then the bunch of people talking cock here will surely be missing since they are queuing at job centres.

... This is Godfather and Goodfellas, and maybe a bit of Ocean’s Eleven put together. (And yes, I do love a good mafia story). And maybe quite a bit of War and Peace too, at least the portions in which Tolstoy introduced a way of history not as a story driven by individuals, but by the masses by social forces very often beyond any individuals’ control ...
ya, man! ...

a tolstoy story of pahom which tries 2 amass mor n mor time of control vis-a-vis land ...

Singapore is only a city state. Compare to cities like K.L., Jakarta - she is nothing exceptional.

My job was to run through the cables of Allied news agencies: Reuters, UP, AP, Central News Agency of China and TASS. These cables, sent out in Morse code, had been intercepted by Malay radio operators. Radio signals were not clear in the later afternoons and early evenings, and because reception was poor, many words were garbled or lost. I had to decipher them and fill in the missing bits, guided by the context, as in a word puzzle. The cables then had to be collated under the various battle fronts and sent from the top floor of Cathay Building to the floor below, where they would be revamped for broadcasting.

to put it simply in 1 sentence. LKY deciphered the missing English words of the cables for the Japanese military intelligence code-breaking side. so his works for the Japanese invaders made him a traitor ?

the Allies and the Axis news agencies were an important source of transmitting information to its forces, organizations and members all over the world during ww2. the Allies and the Axis made great efforts to intercept, decipher and crack the codes of the enemies. the USA had successfully cracked the codes that the Japanese forces used to transmit messages numerous times, the Japanese had little success against the USA's codes, and that was a key reason why the USA defeated Japan in ww2. our war hero, Force 136 Lim Bo Seng hid secret codes in the form of ordinary messages in the newspapers to carry messages to its agents in Malaya.

no wonder the japanese gave him the order of the rising sun award first class,a rare award given only to a select few of notable foreigners of the 19th and 20th century.

holy crap is that a myth?

GRC is nothing more than manipulation of the election system to ensure that the PAP has more seats than its share of the votes justify. Where else can a party have only 60% of the votes and yet control more than 90% of the seats in Parliament. Minority rights are better protected with a proportional representation system.

actually, in plurality election, once you get 60% of the votes, you get 90% of the seats, it happens everywhere.

GRC is also a myth of LKY and PAP. it is not original. it is called the Party Vote Block. the PAP copied this "great" electoral system from some funny African countries.

Party Block Vote (PBV)

Under Party Block Vote, unlike FPTP, there are multi-member districts. Voters have a single vote, and choose between party lists of candidates rather than between individuals. The party which wins most votes takes all the seats in the district, and its entire list of candidates is duly elected. As in FPTP, there is no requirement for the winner to have an absolute majority of the votes. As of 2004, PBV was used as the only system or the major component of the system in four countries—Cameroon, Chad, Djibouti and Singapore.
