Handphone salesman left with multiple injuries after getting assaulted by angry customer outside Bukit Merah shop

A salesman of a handphone shop located at Block 116 Bukit Merah View was left with cuts and bruises after he was assaulted by an angry customer two days ago (Mar 14) at around 5.10pm.
Stomper Cheryl recounted the incident via email and a telephone interview:
“A man and his wife came into the shop asking for the salesperson who sold him a faulty bluetooth device nine months ago. He was informed by the salesman that the salesperson who sold him the device was no longer working at the shop and that the warranty for the product was only for three months.
“The conversation turned ugly when the man’s wife slammed the glass counter. Following that the man asked the salesman to leave the shop to settle the issue with a fight. Not wanting to mess up the shop, the salesman complied and proceeded out to try and resolve the matter
“Outside the shop, the man’s wife picked up a blue plastic bread tray from the floor and passed it to the man. It was a relatively big tray; the kind that can be stacked.
“The man used the tray to hit the salesman. After blocking several hits, the salesman managed to push the tray onto the ground. The man then punched the salesman on the face.
“The bystanders just watched and did not call the police. A shop owner of a nearby store subsequently called the police despite the man’s wife warning her not to.
“About seven to eight policemen came after a few minutes. The assailant however had already left the scene. A police report was made thereafter.”
The salesman suffered cuts and bruises on his back, hands and head.
The assailant is about 45-50 years old. He has a tattoo on his chest and a head of short hair with a mixture of black and white.
Said a police spokesperson with regards to the incident:
“Police received a call in 14 March 2015 at 5.29pm requesting for assistance at Block 116 Bukit Merah View. Upon police arrival, it was established that a case of voluntary causing hurt had occurred at the said location. Police have advised the victim on legal recourse.”
