So far they have not produced a realistic movie of the Vietnam war. Only got crap like platoon and We were Patriots.... Green Berets was worse than crap.... Apocalypse Now was too surreal...
Needs a British director to come out with something better.
The killing fields was good - but it was based on Cambodia and not Vietnam :(
the Vietnam war movies of the 1980s and 90s all had some depressing anti-war or liberal contents in it. that is in accordance with the general US public opinion on the war. so they had movies like Platoon, Casualties of War, etc.
recommend the "The Siege of Firebase Gloria (1989)", it's a simple, no fuss, extremely high body counts, pretty absorbing movie.
This one is not too bad,,,abit 'nationalistic' but when this battle was fought, it was the beginning of the war,,when the war 1st started there was tremendous support..but as the war dragged on,,,public opinion turned,,but the politicians were to dumb to see it,,
