Come Dec, expect the double tolls and VEP of RM 50/day to add to RM 80/day. Its still S$35/day...a simple meal for a family of 5, trip to Giant, Car Wash, Petrol will save the family S$100-S$500.

People with real need to go JB to spend will still go there to spend as its still cheap and worthwhile despite paying the S$35 toll + VEP ( less the Jam of course )

Those who stay there will pay S$700/month to do in-out for work. That's S$84,000 over 10 years but they already save S$300,000 on their houses in JB. If they know how to think this way, they will be contented without the jam

But you forgot to factor in the implementation of GST next year.
By then, all goods and services would be increase by an average of at least 10% and probably also include a hike in petrol price too.
So those going for groceries and such, the savings will become negligible and subsequently, shopping trips will then be less frequent or worse, quit coming.

Plus hike in electricity, water and indah water rates. There will still be savings, but not as much as before.
