I remembered that I saw this sort of gadgets in some of the China website long before when Sony join the band wagon.
There's several China made watch which even allow you to slot in SIM card and use it as a phone.

Sony then came into the picture and subsequently Samsung also want to the fun.
Now this Apple also want to have a share of the market and they are going to launch their smart watch gadget very soon.

Certain things resist evolution and technology can't touch.
Timepiece is one of them....basically remained the same for 100 years.

Unless the battery life of a smartwatch can last for years on a single charge, it will never become popular.

At best it'll become a gimmicky product catered to certain users e.g. a smart exercise band.

Not easy to change the mindset of discreet audience how they want their timepiece to keep track of time.
Many years ago, digital watch wasn't common and it took Casio many years before digital watch became popular.

Battery life of smart watch will take time to improve like what cell phone did.
Such gadget will need a lot of innovation before it can become more popular.
Casio over the years decided to make use of solar cell to improve the battery life instead of following the path of using kinetic energy.

Three years ago, I bought a $2 digital watch from Diaso at IMM. It is still working and accurate (at least adequately for an old man). Spending more on a time piece is just an exercise to boost your ego.

I consider myself a conservative person & am reluctant to jump on the bandwagon of fads. I no longer use a watch because I have a handphone that does the job. With handphones so common, watches nowadays are being used more as a fashion accessories than to tell time

Currently I have an electronic Sphygmomanometer which I use regularly to monitor my blood pressure. When I take the train I often see people using those fitbit bands. If you don't know what a fitbit band is, take a look here http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ds=fitbit&sprefix=fitbi,aps&rh=i:aps,k:fitbit

I predict that if Apple can provide an iwatch which has good multi-functional capabilities, it will sell well.

Not an ego trip...at least not for men.
Men dun wear any jewelry....a watch is the only jewelry and accessory a man should have.
Many ways to tell the time nowsadays for men who dun fancy a timepiece jewelry....a handphone can take over time telling function.
