Foreign workers get May Day movie treat

More than 10,000 foreign workers will get to watch free movies today.

The Migrant Workers Centre (MWC) is holding free movie screenings for foreign workers as part of its annual May Day celebrations this year.

The movies include new releases such as The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Godzilla, and they are screened at the Cathay Cineplex, dormitories and the foreign workers activity centre at Soon Lee Road.

The free movie screenings are held "to recognise and show appreciation to our migrant workers for the hard work and dedication as part Singapore's workforce, and their role in contributing to Singapore's economy," said the National Trades Union Congress-backed MWC in a statement today.

This need to be publicised more - local workers can get angry and vote accordingly.
What symbiotic relationship?

MOM should be shutdown and all migrant worker issues placed under the charge of MFA.

this almost sound like NS slavery, once in a blue moon we give u a "treat" let u day off and give u movie screening to show the world we are welfare and number 1 human rights country in the world.

never mind the fact we paying u $2 an hour.cause u can go home and build a mansion made of straw and m&d in ur village.

NTUC is just a trade union in name. Of course some PAP IB morons would like to emphasize the word 'Congress'... as if that would enhance the credibility or legitimacy of the NTUC.

LKY crushed free press and labour unions in his youth. Nothing has changed since then.

Before their integration programs settle or succeed they begin to tear it down.

Whenever peasants mention NTUC, they are referring to the ubiquitous supermarkets all over Singapore. Union, what union?
